High Park Maternity Session | Toronto Family Photographer
There's a particular kind of light that High Park gives you in the last hour before sunset — warm, low, and filtering through the leaves in a way that’s special in the summer months. That's exactly the light we got for this session for this couple counting down the weeks until they meet their first baby.
We started along the trails near the pond, where the greenery does most of the work. There's something about a quiet stone wall and dappled light that makes a moment feel unhurried, and that's exactly the energy this pair brought. Soft laughter, foreheads together, her hand resting where it naturally goes these days.
As the sun dropped lower, we moved out into the open field, where the light turned everything gold. A walk across the grass, hand in hand, tote bag swinging — the kind of ordinary moment that won't feel ordinary at all when they look back on it years from now. And when the sun sank just behind the treeline, we grabbed a silhouette against the sky: two shapes, one small curve between them, saying everything without a single detail visible.
We closed things out with a few quieter, closer portraits — some in colour, some stripped back to black and white, because some expressions don't need color to land. A smile caught mid-laugh. A look that says this is really happening.
High Park has a way of feeling different every time you shoot there, whether it’s a family shoot or a maternity shoot. But it never disappoints!
