FAQs

The Common Questions

What makes your sessions different from traditional family photography?

My approach blends documentary-style storytelling with an artistic eye. I gently guide where needed, but focus on real connection, natural light, and unscripted moments that reflect your family’s rhythm—whether that’s a slow morning at home or an energetic adventure outside. No stiff poses or awkward smiles—just real life, unfolding naturally.

How do you make the whole process easier for busy families like ours?

From our first email to your final gallery, I take care of the details so you can focus on enjoying your family. I’ll guide you through planning, send wardrobe tips, and structure the session around your routine—often starting early in the morning when kids are at their best. Afterward, you’ll receive a beautiful gallery and a built-in store to order your favourites on your own time.

What’s included with the session?

Every session includes a downloadable gallery of high-resolution, fully edited images (about 40–50 per hour), a custom slideshow set to music, and access to an integrated online store where you can order albums, prints, calendars, mugs, and more. The store stays open 24/7 for a full year—perfect for gifts or milestones.

Can we keep our images private?

Yes. When we sign your contract, you can choose to keep your session completely private or opt for selective sharing (like images without faces). Your preferences are always respected, and nothing is posted publicly without your approval.

We’re not exactly naturals in front of the camera. Will it feel awkward?

Most of my clients say the same thing at first. I’ll help you settle in with familiar activities—reading together, hide-and-seek, wrestle time on the bed—and then step back so things unfold naturally. With kids, especially, the goal isn’t perfection. It’s connection.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

Toronto weather can be unpredictable, but flexibility is built in. If the forecast looks rough, I’ll check in the day before to reschedule or shift locations. Since many sessions happen in your home, we rarely need to move—but your comfort always comes first.

How does the wall art process work?

If you'd like to include framed prints in your session, we’ll talk during our planning call about pre-purchasing a 1, 3, or 5-piece package. These are paid up front, so there are no surprise fees or pushy sales later. Once your gallery is ready, just choose your favourites—I’ll take care of printing, framing, and arranging professional installation, usually within 4–6 weeks.

How do we choose a location that feels personal (and not too busy)?

Home is often the best setting—it’s where kids feel most comfortable and everything you need is close at hand. If we venture out, I’ll help you choose somewhere meaningful and low-key: a favourite trail, splash pad, coffee shop, or hidden park. As a Toronto family photographer, I also have a curated list of beautiful, less-crowded locations.

Where are the print products made?

Everything I offer—wall art, albums, mugs, calendars—is sourced locally through trusted Canadian print labs and makers. So you’re not only investing in quality, you’re also supporting local artisans with every order.

Do you photograph extended families?

Absolutely. Whether it’s just your crew or a full three-generation gathering, I’ll help guide the energy and make sure everyone feels included. We’ll capture classic group portraits and the beautiful in-between moments that make your family unique. I don’t charge extra for larger groups—documentary photography thrives in joyful chaos.
