An Evening Family Photo Shoot at Evergreen Brickworks

Some shoots feel like a breath of fresh air — this was one of them.

On a crisp autumn evening, I met up with a family of four at Evergreen Brickworks, one of Toronto’s most iconic and photogenic spots. The light was soft, the leaves were turning, and the air had that unmistakable fall feeling.

Both parents were warm and easygoing — and mom, as it turns out, is a talented photographer herself. It’s always an honour when another photographer steps in front of the lens and trusts me to capture their family’s story.

Their two daughters brought the energy — and then some. We wandered the trails, walked the boardwalk, and let the girls lead the way (with just enough nudging to keep things on track). The old industrial buildings made the perfect backdrop, especially when we wrapped with individual portraits of the girls along the red brick walls — a Brickworks classic.

In between the movement and play, we caught a quiet moment with just mom and dad. No kids, no posing — just a genuine laugh shared between two people who’ve built a beautiful life together.

This was the kind of session I love most: relaxed, real, and full of little in-between moments that become the ones you’ll come back to again and again.
